Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Cardiovascular Services, the
Cath Lab Manager is the key leader responsible for the 24/7 operational oversight, clinical quality, and strategic growth of the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role involves managing a multidisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety, optimizing resource utilization, and driving continuous quality improvement initiatives across all procedural areas.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical & Quality Leadership: - Establish and enforce clinical standards, processes, and protocols to ensure the highest level of patient care, safety, and outcomes.
- Oversee all clinical operations, including scrub, circulate, and monitoring roles, to maintain procedural efficiency and quality.
- Lead quality improvement activities (e.g., NCDR registry submission, STEMI protocols) and regulatory compliance (e.g., TJC, CMS).
- Serve as a clinical resource and liaison for interventional cardiologists, surgeons, and other procedural staff.
Operations & Financial Management: - Manage the department's operational and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource stewardship.
- Develop and manage the daily, weekly, and on-call staffing schedules for RNs, Technologists (RCIS/RTR), and support personnel.
- Oversee inventory management and supply chain logistics to ensure proper stock levels and cost-effective purchasing.
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, throughput, and patient satisfaction metrics.
Team Leadership & Development: - Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing, engaged, and competent Cath Lab team.
- Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, professional development, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Ensure all staff meet and maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
Candidate Qualifications: Education & Experience Requirements: - Minimum Education: Graduation from an approved and accredited Nursing program or Radiologic/Cardiovascular Technology program.
- A Bachelor's degree is required (BSN preferred for RNs).
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an acute care setting, including a minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology (EP) Lab.
- Management Experience: Required. Must have demonstrated leadership experience overseeing a clinical team or department.
Required Licensure & Certifications: - For RN Candidates: A valid Permanent Multi-State RN License (from the state of residence) is required.
- For Technologist Candidates: RCIS or RTR certification is strongly preferred/required (depending on role focus).
- Current American Heart Association BLS CPR required (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
- Current American Heart Association ACLS required (must be obtained within orientation period).
- Certification from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association ( SCRQSA ) required within 30 days of hire.
