Job Description

Job Summary: The Food Safety Systems Technician provides support to the Food Safety and Quality Systems team by verifying, validating, auditing and enforcing policies related to pathogen interventions and other critical regulatory policies. This technician role is a very hands‑on, highly interactive role in a fast paced, ever‑changing production environment, requiring some schedule flexibility to support projects as needed. The ability to quickly assess risk, lead a team to a decision point and ensure plans are executed are critical skills required to perform this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Participate in the development of sampling plans for trials and validation studies related to pathogen interventions and other critical regulatory requirements, such as retained water validations, at the different plant locations. Sample collection during trials and validation studies for the pathogen interventions and other trials and validation studies as assigned. Assist on evaluation of data and outcomes of the trials and validations, collaborating with other Food Safety Systems team members. Verify compliance with pathogen intervention application and other critical regulatory programs by performing direct observations and process audits. Perform audits of corrective actions related to food safety systems to ensure that corrective actions and preventive measures remain properly implemented and are effective. Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including laboratory, operations, quality assurance and maintenance personnel, to drive continuous improvement in the areas of pathogen control and critical regulatory policies. Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns. Provide support to the Food Safety Quality Assurance department by developing a knowledge of the business to participate in projects, internal and external audits, and other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Safety Systems Manager or designee. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field, or at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing quality assurance or food safety related role. Working knowledge of food safety systems within a food manufacturing environment. Ability to effectively communicate and drive change with varying levels throughout the organization. Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Working experience with project management and team collaboration. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
