Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Design Team creates thoughtful, intentional creative that brings our award-winning brewery and beers to life. We value attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity for an early-career designer to gain hands‑on experience across a variety of projects, including packaging and sales materials, advertising, social media, menus, and merchandise, while helping to define the look and feel of our brands across every touchpoint. Responsibilities include prioritizing projects effectively, managing multiple design requests simultaneously, and ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. This role requires balancing competing priorities while maintaining clear communication and delivering consistent, high-level creative solutions across all brand touchpoints. Manage and complete graphic design help tickets submitted from departments throughout the company in a timely and efficient manner. Solve challenging design problems and present multiple concepts through digital or physical sketches, visual references, competitive and trend reviews, and storyboards. Capture and edit studio‑quality lifestyle and product photography, including select events, for use across social media, websites, and print materials. Organize social content collaboratively with the Creative Director and Social Media Specialist, including design, photography, and video/animation across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) Proof and review your work to ensure it is complete, accurate, and production‑ready. Maintain meticulous attention to detail throughout the creative, proofing, and production process to ensure consistency, minimize errors, and optimize efficiency across all projects and deliverables. Incorporate feedback effectively and follow creative direction, using each project as an opportunity to refine skills and grow professionally. Troubleshoot and problem‑solve through discovery, collaboration, and relationship‑building across departments. Seek, interpret, and implement feedback into creative and commercial solutions. Research and implement emerging design trends and technologies. Manage and organize priorities, workflow, and deadlines through regular and ongoing communication with the Senior Graphic Designer and Creative Director, while delivering finished work on‑brand, error‑free, and on‑time. Prepare print‑ready files necessary for all steps of the production process. Manage and maintain various media libraries, servers, and archives for all print, digital, photo, and video files. Other duties and projects as assigned. Education Required Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field. Photography coursework or demonstrated experience preferred. Work Experience Relevant experience in print and digital design gained through academic projects, internships, or freelance work. Professional experience is a plus but not required. Required Qualifications Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects) and Mac OS Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and design fundamentals through academic coursework, portfolio projects, or internships. Advanced knowledge in graphic design fundamentals: typography, color, layout, composition, information hierarchy, and type/grid relationships. Eye for detail, copy review, and design hierarchy along with a healthy mix of creative and technical know‑how. Ability to independently manage owned projects, prioritize efficiently and thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to design for both print, web, and social media layouts. Excellent interpersonal skills: team player, self‑motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Diligent multi‑tasker with strong time management and problem‑solving skills, and a passion for creativity. Experience in photography planning, styling, shooting, and editing, which may be gained through coursework or personal projects. Must have a portfolio of work (including academic, freelance, or personal projects) that can be reviewed by the hiring manager.
