About the Role:

The Waste Collection Dispatcher plays a crucial role in managing daily operations to ensure our waste collection services run smoothly. This position serves as the main communication link between drivers, supervisors, and customers, optimizing efficiency and responding to real-time challenges. We are looking for a proactive individual to promote and monitor safety, outline procedures for effective dispatching, and enhance our operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster positive relationships with all drivers and colleagues across depots and transfer stations.
• Optimize driver and truck utilization to enhance productivity.
• Monitor daily operations to align driver performance with hours worked.
• Communicate crew schedules and manage timely notifications.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety protocols.
• Conduct inspections on trucks and equipment to ensure safety and maintenance standards.
• Address service requests and manage service tickets effectively.
• Document accidents and injuries, ensuring comprehensive reports for safety teams.
• Create and present regular performance reports to senior management.
• Handle customer inquiries related to service issues promptly and efficiently.
• Monitor and rectify any missed pickups within a 60-minute timeframe.
• Conduct thorough checks on driver documentation and routes.
• Reschedule blocked customer services and track extra pickups as required.
• Actively manage dispatch communications to adjust routes as necessary.
• Oversee tablet inventory and ensure consistency in use across all routes.
• Respond to emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns and accidents effectively.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of dispatching experience.
• Relevant undergraduate degree or certification preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
• Excellent organization and time management abilities.
• Commitment to workplace safety initiatives.
• Knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and operational software.
• Basic understanding of vehicle operations and limitations.
• Willingness to perform occasional field visits to assess route challenges.
• Flexible with early morning, evening, or weekend hours as necessary.
• Spanish fluency is a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience in waste management or transportation industries is beneficial.

Compensation: Salary range is USD $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year.
